Cat Eye Care

Literate cat eye care will save your pet from a lot of unpleasant experiences and help prevent the development of serious diseases that, if left unchecked, can lead to blindness.

What is needed for daily eye care of a cat?

Some breeds of cats (squat-faced and long-haired, such as Persian cats) need regular eyewashes. To do this, you can use furatsilin or special drops that are sold in veterinary pharmacies and pet stores. The eyes are washed twice a day according to the following scheme:

  1. 1-2 drops of the drug are instilled into each eye.
  2. The cat’s eyelids are gently massaged.
  3. The drug is removed with a clean cotton pad.

There are lotions for everyday eye care, as well as lotions for removing tear ducts.

How to care for a cat’s eyes?

  1. Make sure that the cat’s eyes are clear and clean, without discharge.
  2. Cotton wool is not used to clean the eyes, as its fibers increase lacrimation. It is better to take a cotton swab.
  3. Do not wash the eyes of a cat with water – this disrupts the microflora.
  4. Chamomile infusion is also not a suitable remedy – it can cause eyelid baldness.
  5. For treatment and care, only preparations specifically designed for the eyes are used.
  6. If treatment has already begun, do not interrupt it yourself.
  7. If you have symptoms that worry you, contact your veterinarian. Self-medication or lack of treatment is fraught with blindness!
