Some parents get a dog in the hope that it will be a help in mikolokolo children, teach your child responsibility, hatsaran-toetra and love for all living things. Are these aspirations realistic? Yes! But on one condition.

And this condition is very important. They cannot be neglected.

In no case do not take a dog in the expectation that the child will look after her! Even if the child swears that it will be so.

The fact is that children are still too young to take on such responsibility. They cannot even plan for the near future, let alone days, months, and even more years ahead. And very soon you will see that the worries about the dog fell on your shoulders. Or the dog turned out to be of no use to anyone at all. And the child, instead of love for a four-legged friend, feels, to put it mildly, hostility, considering the pet a burden.

As a result, everyone is unhappy: you, offended in the best of feelings, and the child, on which an exorbitant responsibility hangs, and most importantly, a dog that did not ask to be wound up at all.

Is it really impossible to involve a child in caring for a dog, you ask? Of course you can, and even need to! But it is precisely to attract – to give feasible instructions and unobtrusively (precisely unobtrusively) control their execution. For example, you can ask your child to change the water in a dog bowl or teach a dog a funny trick together.

However, you should not trust your child to walk the dog on his own – it can be simply dangerous and do more harm than good.

Only in the case when you understand from the very beginning that you still have to take care of the dog, even if you take it “for a child”, there is a chance for a happy future. This approach will save you from unnecessary illusions and disappointment, the child from irritation towards you and the dog, and the pet will be able to feel welcome and loved by a family member, and not a burden.

And the child, of course, will learn responsibility and kindness – on the example of your attitude towards the dog. And the dog will be an excellent method of raising children.
